Get Your Free Web Site Report Card - And Consultation
By David Prescott

Over the past ten years AZ-Web has learned a vast amount of knowledge about web site development, design, hosting and marketing. There have been many times over the years where we've saved clients thousands of dollars and an invaluable amount of time and grief by getting it their site built effectively.

It's good to know what the pros think.
We've seen all to often where a web site is either being built in-house, or by a friend or even a family member. Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn't. Even if you are having a web site built by a professional web designer, it's worth having another professional take a look at it.

Who Isn't on High-Speed?
Pretty much everyone I know (with the exception of my own mom) has a high-speed Internet connection. With that said, (sorry mom) I think it's time to consider offering the availability of more interesting content in web sites.

Flash has become the standard when it comes to online animation. It's become very reasonable to add small areas of animation on your site. You may also choose to add Flash banners or even centerpiece Flash graphics into the mix. Just make sure that you keep your content text outside of the Flash area.

Adding music or video is also another way to give your web site movement. A properly formatted video will look good and load fast, while music can be used to set a mood.

For the most part, Flash has the ability to load rather quickly. I always suggest to have most Flash elements play automatically. On the other hand, when it comes to audio or video, I tend to leave it up to the user to determine when and if they are going to listen to or view at their leisure.

No matter what you do, high bandwidth is here for most people. Keep it reasonable, and don't be scared to add new elements if it will benefit the web site without affecting it's performance.
